N2  - This chapter looks into the functions of mouthing in Chinese Sign Language (CSL), which is one type of mouth action in sign languages. In particular, we base our discussion on the mouthing that appears in interrogative constructions in naturalistic data. Our findings include that mouthing varies in both morphology and syntactic distribution. Some can be part of sign words and some can function as question markers. In conclusion, we argue that mouthing basically belongs to CSL grammar, rather than that it is a code-mixing phenomenon
